Welcome to Poked and Parotid, the journal of my surgery of November 2003
Hi, I'm Andy Little and when I learned that I would need to have this surgery, I decided to keep a blog so that my friends and family could keep up with what was happening. At the time, I had no idea that so many people would see it and that it would still be of interest years later.
It's been almost exactly five years since the surgery on November 20, 2003 and I decided to update the site to make it a little easier to follow. For those that have been here before, I hope I haven't changed it too much. I decided to reorganize it from the original blog format of most recent posting first (itself almost 5 years old!) to be in chronological order from the beginning.
I haven't really changed anything other than cleaning up some links and fixing spelling errors. I have added the Epilogue page to give an update on how I am doing five years later - Great!
I have really enjoyed my correspondence with everyone that has written to ask questions or to get some support, so please feel free to contact me via email.
Finally, I have to again give thanks to Dwight for his great Patient's Forum on Parotid Gland Tumors - lots of great information and the forums are fantastic.

PS - also note that the picture at the top is a stock photo - I can't be sure, but I would hope that Vice Grips were not part of the standard tools used in my surgery!
